Asbestos Roof Coating

This asbestos roof was suffering from numerous issues including heavy vegetation growth, degraded roof lights, blocked gutters and cracked, broken and holed sheets.

As the roof sheets were generally in serviceable condition, the client wanted to apply a coating system that would extend the life of the roof.

Asbestoseal by Liquasil was chosen as the ideal solution, because it tackles all of the issues associated with this type of roof.

Various repairs were then undertaken, including over-sheeting badly damaged sheets with GRP equivalents and replacing the degraded roof lights.

The first stage was to clean the roof using closed box pressure washing, which is essentially an industrial sized patio cleaner, that spins the water jets across the surface of the roof without contaminating the area surrounding it. This is the recommended and approved method of cleaning asbestos roofs from the Health & Safety Executive.

Once the roof was dry, all fixings were treated with Liquasil SWT Primer, a 2 pack epoxy designed to arrest corrosion and prevent rust breaking through the new coating system.

The next stage was to apply Liquasil Non-Sag Sealer to all previusly treated fixings before coating the entire roof with Asbestoseal 20.

Asbestoseal can only be purchased for installation by a trained Liquasil installer.

The roof works in this example were completed by Impact Restoration Ltd of Hayes, Middlesex.
